Dental implants have become the preferred choice for replacing missing teeth. Previously, dentures and dental bridges were the only methods available for replacing missing teeth. Now, dental implants serve as a more long-term and desirable solution for missing teeth, that mimic the look, feel, and function of your natural teeth.
Having an implant procedure completed involves placing a high grade titanium root, the implant, into the missing tooth area. This implant will be allowed to heal six to eight weeks prior to the beginning of the process of placing a crown or tooth on the implant. The crown after fabrication, by a dental lab, will be submitted on the implant.
The crown is stronger than a natural tooth and are not susceptible to decay, fracture, and rarely have gum disease concerns. Once the site of the implant has completely healed, the second part of the implant—called the abutment or metal post—is installed. The post serves as an anchor and attachment point for the third part of the implant, the dental crown.
With consistent good dental care and hygiene, dental implants can be a permanent solution for missing teeth, giving you an extraordinary smile. Book an appointment consultation with one of our dentists today to find out if you’re eligible for dental implants.
